October 3, 2009

Who knew that it would take me this long to begin to return to some semblance of 'normal' life???? And even this so-called normal is a little busier and over-scheduled for my liking, but I'll deal. (It's not as though I have much choice -- it's called life!)

But this past week I did manage to accomplish something. I finished one of my shawls. The summer was a little busier than I had expected, and there was very little knitting done. I'm not complaining. It was an absolutely wonderful summer, and I really wouldn't change that, but on the knitting front, it was almost a loss.

So I'm absolutely delighted to be able to post this picture here.
That's my Christmas Mystery Shawl, aka, Night Sky or Polareis, designed by Monika Eckert.
My plan was to knit all 13 sections of the pattern and then add the edging, but by the end of the 11th section it was looking pretty big and so I added the edging then and left off the last two parts. With gentle blocking my shawl is about 88" (220 cm) in wingspan and 53" (133 cm) deep -- a generous shawl for me! I used Knit Picks Shadow in Vineyard Heather and I love the finished product! And I'm pleased that I now have another project completed, blocked and ready to wear!

Adamas has not grown a great deal. I'll add a photo when I can get the chance to stretch it out a little and take one.

I started the Koigu X's scarf, but I'm not too happy with how it looks right now, and so spent more time than I'd like to admit browsing through alternate patterns in Ravelry. How I love Ravelry and the features that let me see what other people are doing with the same yarn ... and other patterns that are available.

I've come up with a few designs that I like. When I've made an actual decision I'll let you know.

And the fine shawl with the Colourmart yarn? Life has been too busy for me to sit down and cave out some calm time that will let me resume knitting ... and I need to also find where I tucked the pattern that is marked with my progress ...

And now -- life calls yet again! But first, I'm having a cup of tea!
